Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon to Feature Online Functionality

What could Nintendo be cooking up for Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon? As revealed on Nintendo World Report, a screenshot of the game’s box art has surfaced, and it features the snazzy Nintendo Network logo at the top right corner. So I repeat: What could Nintendo have planned for the upcoming Dark Moon?

The first thing that really comes to mind is online leaderboard integration. While the prospect of some sort of multiplayer component is certainly fun to think about, I’d say competitive leaderboards would be right up the Big N’s alley.

There’s also the possibility for DLC. As evidenced with New Super Mario Bros. 2, Nintendo is really looking to get in on the whole paid add-on content deal, and I’m certain gamers would shell out a few bucks for some extra mansions in the upcoming title.

Whatever Nintendo may have planned as far as online functionality in Dark Moon is concerned, it’s great to see the company actually venturing into the online space. It may be taking baby steps to get there, but at least it’s happening. We’ll likely get more info on exactly how the Nintendo Network will be utilized in the ghost-sucking adventure in the near future.

I'm torn. I like that Nintendo is venturing into the online/DLC racket... I'm also really scared that Nintendo is venturing into the online/DLC racket.

My thoughts exactly. It's insane how something can both excite and terrify.
