Lollipop Chainsaw Reaches 700,000 Shipments

This past Saturday, Kadokawa Games hosted the Lollipop Chainsaw Summer Appreciation Festival. The fan event took place at the publisher’s offices and featured appearances from Grasshopper Manufacture’s Suda51, as well as Juliet Starling cosplayers Jessica Nigri and Mayu Kawamoto.

According to Andriasang, it was announced that Lollipop Chainsaw had hit 700,000 units shipped, a landmark for Grasshopper Manufacture. While shipment of units doesn’t necessarily reflect a game’s actual sales, it often indicates a game’s demand. After the poor sales figures for the awesome Shadows of the Damned, 700,000 shipments for Lollipop Chainsaw isn’t all that shabby.

Suda51 also briefly touched on Killer Is Dead, his company’s next project. The game is set to feature several female characters, a one-handed katana-wielding cyborg (yay!), plenty of assassin storytelling, and inspiration from bother Killer7 and No More Heroes. Well, I’ll be watching out for that one on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3! Who’s with me?
