The internet is in a frenzy yet again. What was it, two minutes since the last outburst? The box art for 2K Games and Irrational Games’ upcoming BioShock Infinite has been unleashed on the good ol’ internet, and people don’t seem very happy about it. Actually, that may be an understatement.
As you can see from the full cover art below, we’ve got protagonist Booker DeWitt holding a shotgun while the American flag burns behind him. A lot of people have been drawing comparisons between this box art and the first Uncharted, and I’ll give them that — that’s actually a valid comparison.
What I don’t understand is the crazy negative reception the artwork has received. I mean, it’s just cover art, right? Personally, I don’t even think it’s that bad, but if I did, I wouldn’t riot on the web. You don’t see Call of Duty fans complaining about every single hideously boring cover that those games sport. Then there’s Skyrim, one of the greatest games this generation, which only featured a title and a symbol on a black background. Not very exciting.
Seriously, people are making too big a deal about this. Then again, first world problems and all that …
