Hellraid

A new trailer for Dead Island developer Techland’s upcoming game Hellraid has been released (courtesy of Eurogamer). It starts off showing a few different dungeons and then the music gets all dramatic and we see a bunch of skeletons attacking the player character. It’s a nice throwback to old school first-person dungeon crawlers, and it’s actually quite effective.

You may get somewhat of a Dead Island vibe from Hellraid, but the game certainly has a few qualities that set it apart. The world, for example, won’t be one huge open environment anymore. Instead, there will be multiple maps, and they’ll all consist of their own open-ended structure. Additionally, leveling up now unlocks branches across the character’s skill tree.

Hellraid currently has no publisher, but Techland has stated that it’s looking into that situation. The game is due out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, though a specific release date has yet to be announced. We’ll surely get info on that somewhere along the road, possibly once the developer secures a publisher.
