Those that pick up the PS4 version of The Witcher 3 will be pleased to know that CD Projekt RED is going the extra mile to optimize the title for Remote Play on PS Vita. According to game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, those that opt to play the 2014-bound epic on Vita can expect “very streamlined experience as far as control and the interface go.”

“This means we need to introduce solutions that are flexible and universal so the game runs smoothly and provides a similar experience on all platforms, including the Vita,” explained Tomaszkiewicz in an interview with PSU.

That said, adapting the control scheme to Vita is still a moving target this early on in development. He added, “Our first and main objective is to lock the final control scheme on the PlayStation 4 itself. Since we’re still adding functionality to the game and testing the friendliness of our control schemes, we can’t say much about the Vita yet.”

While Sony announced such functionality would be mandatory for titles during its pre-E3 conference, it’s certainly great to hear that a developer is taking a serious look at the Remote Play connectivity between PS4 and Vita. There’s plenty of potential for synergy between the two platforms and it’s nice to hear it isn’t merely being brushed to the side. Here’s hoping CDPR provides a stellar experience on the Vita that sets an example for other developers to follow.
