Sony’s launched a new site as part of its ‘Greatness Awaits’ campaign, inviting gamers to place bids for rare PlayStation memorabilia. In a creative twist, you can do so by using Gold Trophies earned in PS3 and PS Vita titles.

A total of 15 listings are up on Bidforgreatness.com, which cover props and costumes used in various advertisements and promotional shots you may have seen throughout E3. To bid, simply sign-in with your primary PSN account and the site will tally up all the Gold Trophies you’ve earned to date. Note that only accounts based in North America are eligible.

Currently, the highest bid sits at 462 Trophies for Killzone: Shadow Fall’s Black Hand uniform. Admittedly – that probably counts a lot of us out, but hey, PlayStation’s most loyal deserve it.

We’d certainly like to see more initiatives like this in the future. Trophies being used for more than just bragging rights is a good thing, and at the very least, encourages users to spend more time on PSN.
