Well, this is a pleasant surprise. Nintendo has confirmed that it will launch a black 3DS XL in North America. The latest iteration of the dual screen handheld will be available on August 11, which isn’t too far off.

Coincidentally (not really), Mario & Luigi: Dream Team will also launch on that very same day. The Mario & Luigi brand of RPGs is generally pretty awesome, so if you’ve been waiting to snag a 3DS XL, I’d say the upcoming title could very well be a good enough reason.
