Last year on August 7 developer Queasy Games launched Sound Shapes on the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 and Vita. The game has gone on to become a total hit, delivering both great music and platforming, and it’s fueled by a community of creative players always turning out awesome new content. To celebrate, Queasy made a number of announcements on the PlayStation Blog.

First is the creator contest. Players can build their own levels based on what they love most about Sound Shapes. Simply add the hashtag #BDay and you’re in the drawing to be one of six winners who will receive a signed poster. Additionally, winning entries will be included in a special Community Milkcrate collection. Be sure to check out the official rules before you enter.

To add to the awesomeness, Sound Shapes will be on sale for 50 percent off until August 13, so if you’ve yet to pick up the game, I’d say now’s as good a time as any. Aside from the main game, DLC is also 50 percent off, and all avatars are free to download. As per usual, the game is Cross Buy and Cross Play, so if you snag the PlayStation 3 version, you’ll also get the Vita version.

There’s more, though! If you post on PlayStation Community Forums between now and August 12, you’ll receive a message with a special code that’ll grant you a free download of the Sound Shapes Car Mini-Album & Entity Pack. Because freebies are cool, you guys!

So yeah, it’s been a great year for Sound Shapes. Here’s to many more. Happy birthday, you jolly little game, you!
