PC Call of Duty Ghosts Will Have Higher-Res Textures Over Next-Gen Console Versions

The PC edition of Call of Duty Ghosts is shaping up to be the definitive version in more ways than one if comments from executive producer Mark Rubin are any indication. Rubin told Kotaku that CoD: Ghosts on PC will feature higher-res textures over its console brethren.

They’re actually using an even higher version in many cases than the next-gen consoles, from a texture standpoint.

This is hardly uncommon, when you consider the bells and whistles that are routinely added to PC ports as of late. However, since we’re on the cusp on a new console generation, it is somewhat surprising to see a developer accommodate those with high-end PCs straight out of the gate. Some have thought we would see parity between the platforms, not in resolution or AA, but base asset quality as the new consoles are packing 8GB of RAM. Perhaps some sacrifices had to be made to meet the 60FPS target?
