Next Level Games has become known for developing Nintendo-published products over the course of the last several years and console generations. The studio worked on Super Mario Strikers for the GameCube and its Wii sequel Mario Strikers Charged, and then developed Punch-Out!!, also for the Wii. Most recently, Next Level worked on Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon for the 3DS. It seems as if the relationship with Nintendo will only get stronger moving forward.

Speaking to Gamasutra, Co-Founder Jason Carr stated that Next Level will be working solely with Nintendo down the road. “We have worked with a lot of other companies before, and we’re super happy with our relationship with Nintendo,” explained Carr. “There’s no reason to look anywhere else. They keep giving us better and better IP to work with, and as long as we do our job and make good games for them there’s no reason for us to venture out.”

Even though Next Level has worked on games for other non-Nintendo platforms, the company always had this Nintendo feel to it. This business partnership certainly makes sense, and in a way, it was kind of long overdue. Here’s to the future of the 70-person team at Next Level — keep making fun games!
