WWE Network

When you think about CES, professional wrestling doesn’t really come to mind. That changed this year when WWE made a huge announcement during the show. The company revealed that its WWE Network, which had first been announced back in 2011 and was expected to be a cable and satellite channel, would launch on February 24 as a digital on demand service.

But what does this have to do with video games? Well, not much, really, but WWE did state that the WWE Network would be available across a number of platforms including the Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, iOS, Android, and Roku. In addition, Xbox One and Smart TV support will be implemented at a later time.

Subscriptions will run you $9.99 a month and will come in six-month packages. Surprisingly, the value pays off, because the WWE Network features loads of original programming (reality series and documentaries), as well as classic WWE, WCW, and ECW programming, and NXT episodes. Probably the most surprising thing is that each of the monthly pay-per-views (which are over $40 apiece when you order them regularly) is included at no extra charge.

Obviously, this news won’t really entice everyone. But if you’re a rasslin’ aficionado who owns a video game console, smartphone, or tablet, it’s easily a worthwhile investment and ridiculously great value. Personally, I can’t wait to check out that awesome ECW video library!
