Shortly following last week’s big news story surrounding the departure of Uncharted Creative Director and Writer Amy Hennig from Naughty Dog, the studio addressed the situation.

According to sources close to IGN, The Last of Us Directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley “forced” Hennig out of the company. No confirmation was ever made, however, and now Naughty Dog has stated that this was not the case. The developer claims that neither Druckmann nor Straley were involved.

“Normally, we wouldn’t respond to rumors and speculation on matters that are internal to Naughty Dog, but because the personal reputation of two of our employees is being damaged we needed to set the record straight,” said Co-Presidents Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra in a post on Naughty Dog’s official website. “There is nothing left to be said on this subject.  Now we’re going back to what we should be focused on — making games.”

Obviously, there’s still a bit of mystery surrounding the recent events at Naughty Dog. That said, it’s possible that we won’t know what really went on last week (or over the last several weeks or even months) for quite some time, if ever. Whatever the case may be, there’s no denying that Hennig is a talented developer, so here’s hoping she keeps making games that are adored by the general public.
