Developer Hellcat simplifies the process of installing custom firmware on your PSP-1000 or PSP-2000 series unit with an add-on to his always-handy Recovery Flasher app. By using it, users can bypass the usual requirement of having to install an M33 revision first before making the transition over to GEN. Nifty, huh?
Installation is a cinch. Select one of the two .RFP files that match your PSP model number and copy it alongside the official 5.50 firmware EBOOT. From there, boot up Recovery Flasher, choose “load from external FW pack” on the version selection screen, and pick the pack corresponding to 5.50 GEN. Then, presto: installation will begin faster than you can say abracadabra.
