Nintendo is ringing in the new year with year-to-date sales metrics on Nintendo DS and Wii, both of which have sold through 47 million and 34 million units respectively since launch in North America.

On the DS, Nintendo touts it as “the nation’s best-selling video game system of all time.”  That 47 million figure includes all hardware refreshes to date — from the chunky DS fat all the way to the supersized DSi XL. As for the Wii, it enjoyed its third consecutive year of shifting more than 7 million units in the U.S. alone, which Nintendo proclaims is “a feat never before accomplished in the history of video games by a home console.”

It’ll be interesting to see how the 3DS fares at its rumored $250-300 price point when it debuts stateside this March —  only a mere two months away. Expect launch details to drop later this month.
