While Rockstar Games’ controversial Manhunt 2 is due for an October 29 release here in the states, the situation over in Euro-land isn’t looking so good. Originally turned down by the British Board of Film Classification for its “unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone,” the BBFC has once again rejected the title for a UK release, despite Rockstar’s edits to the game.

We recognize that the distributor has made changes to the game, but we do not consider that these go far enough to address our concerns about the original version.

“The impact of the revisions on the bleakness and callousness of tone, or the essential nature of the gameplay, is clearly insufficient. There has been a reduction in the visual detail in some of the ‘execution kills’, but in others they retain their original visceral and casually sadistic nature.

David Cooke, director of the BBFC, went on to say that further changes to the game were suggested, but Rockstar refused to implement them.

Speaking to IGN, Rockstar called the ban “unacceptable,” and it will continue to appeal the decision.
