Nintendo: 200 Wii Virtual Console Titles By Year’s End

by Mike Bendel November 7, 2007 @ 8:47 pm

Speaking at the BMO Capital Markets conference, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime announced that 200 classic titles will be available for purchase on the Wii’s Virtual Console service at the end of 2007.

This brings up an interesting statistic. Since there are currently 166 titles currently on the VC service, it means Nintendo will have release an average of 4.25 titles per week to hit their year-end target of 200 titles.

Right now Nintendo is only releasing 3 games per week, which means Nintendo would meet their goal on January 22, 2008. At this rate, it doesn’t look like Nintendo will make it, unless they are planning to unload a bunch of titles on the VC during Xmas, or possibly increase the amount of games released per-week.
