In a lengthy interview between Brawl producer Masahiro Sakurai and Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, it was revealed that GameArts, the studio which worked on classic RPG series Grandia and Lunar, was responsible for a portion of the development work on Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Unexpected, eh?

Oh, okay. It was Game Arts. It was just after they had finished Grandia III and they told us that they had some staff free. So, we decided to leave the main part of preliminary development to them while we began to hire remaining staff. We did so by looking for people specifically for the Smash Bros. Brawl title.

Why pick staff from GameArts? Miyamoto-san actually recommended the studio to Sakurai, according to Iwata. So there you have it. Some of the best RPG developers in the biz worked on Brawl.

And now all this talk about GameArts has me wanting Lunar 3.
