Platinum Says Bayonetta, Wonderful 101 Will Only Go Multiplatform if Nintendo Says So

Bayonetta 2

Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101 are currently two of the most highly anticipated exclusives headed to the Wii U. Rayman Legends was also on that list before, but, well, you know. Anyway, that’s beside the point. In case you were hoping to get a chance to play either Bayonetta 2 or Wonderful 101 on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 somewhere down the road, you can forget all about that.

Platinum Games’ Hideki Kamiya stated that both titles could potentially be available on different platforms someday, but only if Nintendo gives the go-ahead. As translated on NeoGAF, the director tweeted, “We’re a development company … Nintendo gives us money, we make Bayonetta 2 and W101, and they sell it … So if Nintendo says ‘We’re putting Bayonetta 2 on PS360′ it’ll come out on those platforms … So ask Nintendo about it …”

So there you have it. I doubt Nintendo will allow these two hot exclusives to appear on other consoles. Even at a later date, I’m certain the company wouldn’t want to let these games go. Rayman Legends may no longer be a Wii U exclusive, but Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101 certainly are, and Nintendo has more of a say in those titles’ futures than it ever did with Ubisoft’s colorful platformer.
