Last month, Conker’s Bad Fur Day developer Chris Seavor revealed that he was interested in working on a project for the Wii U. Along with Shawn Pile, who also worked at Rare, Seavor has announced some major details about his upcoming endeavor. As revealed by Nintendo Life, the game in question is The Unlikely Legend of Rusty Pup.

The game is currently in development by Seavor’s studio Gory Detail, which previously worked on Parashoot Stan for iOS devices. Rusty Pup is scheduled to launch sometime in 2014, and it’ll land on both the Wii U eShop and 3DS eShop.

Despite the adult humor found in Conker’s Bad Fur Day, this next project will be somewhat of a change of pace. It’s still going to be a very grown-up game, but not in the “haha sh*t and p*ss” sort of way. Hey, don’t get so bummed out, though, because it still sounds really cool. Rusty Pup will feature a much more serious tone with dark and brooding themes.

As far as gameplay is concerned, details are still under wraps. We do know that the game will be a 2D platformer, though. Additionally, the story elements will be very heavy in Rusty Pup, and Gory Detail wants to create a deep connection between the player and the main character.

This sounds like a fun project, and I personally can’t wait to learn more about it. Hey, 2014, why are you so far away?!
