Nintendo will soon terminate its online services for the Wii and DS. According to a report from the company, Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection services for the two systems will cease to operate beginning May 20.

Online multiplayer and leaderboard components will be affected, and players will no longer be able to play titles such as Mario Kart DS and Super Smash Bros. Brawl online. That said, the Wii Shop Channel, DSi Shop, and online services such as Netflix will continue to run as usual.

Obviously, the Wii and 3DS will remain unaffected by this change, but running Wii and DS titles on these platforms, respectively, will still not allow for online functionality.
