PS Plus Freebie: Lone Survivor Invites You Into the Darkness

Lone Survivor

Today’s free game for PlayStation Plus subscribers is none other than the pixelated survival horror experience Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut from developer Jasper Byrne.

Lone Survivor puts you in the middle of a haunted urban wasteland, forcing you to survive on scraps (and dead alley animals) and wrestle with your very sanity. Aside from battling yourself, you must also survive against deformed, freakish creatures who strike with no remorse.

When I first played Lone Survivor on the PC, I thought it was a refreshing survival horror game and a true return to form for a quickly deteriorating genre. It’s not often that a 2D pixel-based game can instill a grand sense of fear in you, but this title does exactly that.

If you’ve yet to play Lone Survivor and you’re a Plus subscriber, there’s no reason to keep on missing out. Oh, and since the game is Cross-Buy, you’ll get both the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions for free, which is in no way a terrible thing.
