Saints Row: The Third Expansion Now Part of a Sequel

Saints Row: The Third – Enter the Dominatrix will no longer be a standalone expansion to developer Volition’s outstandingly crass action-adventure title released last November. As announced by THQ, the game will now be part of the next main game in the series intended to provide a bigger, better, more complete experience.

“When I looked at the Enter The Dominatrix expansion in production at Volition, I was blown away by the ideas and desire to expand the fiction of the franchise,” stated new THQ President Jason Rubin. “I asked the team what it could achieve given more time, more resources, and a broader scope for the project. We all agreed we wanted to play that game. When it comes to Saints Row, it’s clear our fans want bigger, better, and even more over-the-top, and that’s why Enter The Dominatrix will now be incorporated into a vastly expanded, full-fledged sequel, scheduled for calendar 2013.”

It’s great to see Rubin pumped for the next entry in the franchise, and one can only hope that Enter the Dominatrix is properly incorporated into Saints Row 4. A standalone expansion akin to Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare would have certainly been cool, especially if all the stuff you got in Saints Row: The Third would have carried over. Still, by including Enter the Dominatrix in Saints Row 4, THQ can possibly create an experience that’s bigger and rife with more things to do than the previous game. Let’s just hope they don’t release all of those DLC packs with content that should have already been in the game, because that was kind of cheap.
