The Border Lands Is an Addictive 16-Bit Version of Borderlands 2

As if an upcoming comic book series wasn’t enough cool fan service for Borderlands aficionados, developer Gearbox Software has released a 16-bit browser game called The Border Lands. The game is pretty much a condensed retro-looking shoot ‘em up based on Borderlands 2, and it’s quite addictive.

You basically take one of the four main characters and blast waves of enemies on different single screen stages. It’s nothing too deep, but it’s a nice distraction. I could totally see Gearbox turning this into a mobile game. As a matter of fact, the studio probably should do that. It’d be a prefect companion for Borderlands diehards.

The Border Lands is free to play, and a few people have already taken over the leaderboards. If anything, it’ll serve to get you even more pumped for the upcoming title. For me, though, it really made me want 16-bit renditions of Borderlands and Borderlands 2. Gearbox, make it happen!
