The two-man studio at Team Colorblind is currently toiling away on a brand new game for (inhale) the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Vita, Wii U, PC, Mac, and Linux (exhale). Titled Aztez, the game features a combination of fast-paced beat ’em up action and strategic empire management.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, the Arizona-based team listed a handful of influences for Aztez. Namely, brawlers like Bayonetta and Devil May Cry, as well as classic arcade beat ’em ups, have served as major inspirations for the game’s combat, which is the biggest part of the experience.

As far as the strategy parts are concerned, Team Colorblind hopes to provide something a bit different from the crop of arcade brawlers out there. These sequences are described as “Risk-like,” though no other information has been revealed at this time.

Visually, I was instantly reminded of a 2D MadWorld. Aztez sports a slick black-and-white aesthetic and plenty of juicy red blood. It’s definitely nice to look at, so here’s hoping it’s great to play, as well.

Currently, no launch date has been announced for Aztez. If you’re a fan of brawlers, however, you should definitely keep a lookout for this one. For more info, check out the latest dev blog post. You can watch a trailer of Aztez in action below.
