Aegis Wing hits XBLA this week as a freebie

Chances to score a free game don’t happen very often. At least, not without strings attached. So, that’s why we think it is very important that this bit of news is brought to your attention. This week, Xbox Live Arcade is making Aegis Wing available as a completely free download for all Xbox Live members in North America.

Aegis Wing is a 2-D side-scrolling space shooter that combines epic space combat with fantastic visuals, and is set to a rich symphonic soundtrack. It includes up to four-player cooperative multiplayer, either through Xbox Live or locally on the same Xbox 360 console. Players will blast their way through six epic missions and find themselves equipped with an array of special weapons so you can wreck total havoc on the nefarious Araxian force.

Also noteworthy, the game was created by three college students, namely Scott Brodie, Danny Dyer and Matt Monson, during a summer internship at Xbox Live Arcade with help from Carbonated Games. Doesn’t look too shabby huh? In fact, it’s one of the better looking XBLA games I’ve seen. Kudos to them!

Look for Aegis Wing to hit May 16 at 2 a.m. PDT. Grab it quick, because this will be a limited time offer.
