LinkedIn Profiles Suggest PSP2 Already In Developer Hands

With Nintendo’s recent 3DS announcement, a question looming on many minds is if Sony will respond by introducing new hardware of their own. Like, say, a PSP2. The oft-rumored PSP successor still remains nothing more than a figment of the imagination. Two pieces of evidence have surfaced recently that suggest otherwise, however.
The first source stems from a LinkedIn profile belonging to Dominic Mason, director of UK-based AtomFire Productions. In it, he details the company’s mission statement, offering turnkey development solutions to publishers for a wide range of portable platforms, including the supposed PSP2.
Giving credence is the LinkedIn profile of Romanian film and photo shoot coordinator Hilke Muslim. Apparently, she’s been contracted as a “casting assistant” for an unspecified PSP2 production. Could be referring to a commercial or marketing pitch video.
In no way do these profiles shed light on Sony’s next-generation plans in the portable segment. For all we know, in this case PSP2 may be referring to yet another hardware refresh, although it is unlikely. Hopefully more substantial information will emerge in the not-so-distant future. For now, consider this a possibility that the PSP2 may be more than just a conceptual, on-paper product at this point. Time will tell if anything materializes.
