Sony Closes The Door On PSP Room

Sony has ceased development efforts on PSP Room, first announced during 2009’s Tokyo Game Show. The PSN-driven, PlayStation Home-esque app was poised to deliver a social networking space for PSP, giving users free reign to create their own avatars as well as share content amongst each other on-the-go.

Up until today, the project was in a closed beta, limited to selected participants and SCE partners. Visitors to the official site for Room are now greeted with only a somber notice of the project’s termination. There’s no concrete word on why Sony decided to pull the plug.

On a more uplifting note, Sony says it will use the constructive feedback submitted by its loyal beta testers to help shape future initiatives down the road.
