Call of Duty: Black Ops Announced, Touts Global Conflict

Activision today lifted the veil on Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, placing the kibosh on previous reports that suggested the next Call of Duty would be subtitled Vietnam. There was a hint of truth to that report, however.

A now-removed listing over at UK retailer GAME reveals that the title will be set in various conflict zones, from “Cuba to the Arctic and the jungles of Vietnam.” While that still leaves us without concrete word on the era it will span, it confirms that a portion of the game’s maps and campaigns will be based in Vietnam, among other locations.

Additionally, the official site has gone live. While light on details, it does pin a November 9, 2010 release date on the title. A trailer is scheduled to debut tonight on GTTV.
