Square Enix has sent word that its DS offering Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light will hit store shelves in North America on October 5.

Released in Japan last year, 4 Heroes of Light is billed as a wholly original “epic storybook adventure” that follows the trials and tribulations of Brandt, an aspiring warrior tasked with saving the kingdom’s princess following her abduction by a nefarious force: the Witch of the North.

From a visual standpoint, the title sports a stylistic flair similar to that of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy III and IV remakes on DS. Which comes as little surprise, considering the same development team is behind this one. Beyond that, the title will offer a cooperative mode that allows up to four players to team up via ad-hoc connection and assume other members of your party in the main quest.
