TAG MOde nintendo 3ds

Hideki Konno, the platform producer for the Nintendo 3DS, headed the drive to bring stereoscopic gaming to Nintendo’s next handheld as well as designing the new hardware feature called “Tag Mode”. Tag Mode will allow players to wireless transfer game data with other players within range, regardless of whether or not they are in the same game.

In an interview with Wired Magazine, Konno provided some more detail on how the system will actually work. The 3DS hardware will have a “Tag Mode data slot in the hardware system” that the games will save their data to. It is presumed that this same data slot will be where the new information is stored that a player has received wirelessly.

Players will be able to have multiple games at a time taking advantage of this new feature so you won’t be limited to one game at a time. To help manage the multiple game files and data collected, the Nintendo 3DS will come with a built-in “Tag Mode Viewer” which will help players sort through their various collected data.
