Resistance creator Insomniac Games is keeping busy. In addition to the studio’s first multiplatform effort set to be published under EA’s roof, the developer is hard at work on a PS3 project, one that will be revealed soon. How soon? Gamescom soon, if the hint dropped in their latest email-distributed fan newsletter is any indication. Here’s a snip:

We’re happy to reveal that we’ll be announcing our newest game sometime between now and the Penny-Arcade Expo over Labor Day weekend. We’re really excited to finally reveal this project, and we couldn’t resist being the first to share the news with you.

The mail goes on to further mention that this is a “PlayStation 3 project.” Logic strongly assumes, then, that this is a platform exclusive. With that said, could a third Resistance installment be on the cards? It’d be an appropriate parting gift for Sony before transitioning over to a multiplatform focus. Suppose we’ll find out what lurks behind the curtain in the coming weeks.
