As long as Monster Hunter is around, the PSP will remain a formidable force in Japan it seems. Gamers in the region are lining up by the hundreds, even thousands, across local outlets to snag the latest installment. That’s Monster Hunter Portable 3rd if you’ve been living under a rock.

According to a Famitsu report, more than 3000 folks flocked to the Yodobashi Camera plaza in Shinjuku, Tokyo by around 7:30 a.m. This location sold through its entire stock before the regular 9:30 a.m. opening time. Impress Watch captured the hustle and bustle of the launch frenzy with even more photos.

Of course, there’s no word yet on total opening day sales. It’s too early yet. But if the launch buzz surrounding this one is any indication, it might just be Capcom’s biggest PSP debut ever — surpassing MHP 2nd’s first-day 670K figure. Time will tell.
