Accept New PSN Terms of Service, Waive Rights To Lawsuit

Sony has once again revised its PSN terms of service, detailing changes that go into effect tomorrow. By accepting the new terms, which is mandatory for accessing PSN, users will waive their rights to a class action lawsuit against the company.

The added clause, detailed under Section 15 – “BINDING INDIVIDUAL ARBITRATION,” requires that users send a notice of dispute directly to Sony’s legal arm. The company wants to resolve any complaints through negotiation, rather than by judge and jury. In the event you are unable to reach agreeable terms in 60 days, the claim will be passed over to a neutral arbitrator.

It’s likely these terms have been added as a preemptive measure against complaints that may arise from the PSN  intrusion a few months ago, which left data on over 70 million accounts compromised.
