Update: Duke Nukem Forever Confirmed For 2008, DN3D XBLA Later This Year

Update: Not confirmed? 3D Realms got in touch with ShackNews to clarify the report, noting that “a release date and platforms for Duke Nukem Forever were not confirmed in its interview with the Dallas Business Journal.” Rest assured that this does not mean a release in 2008 won’t happen, only that 3D Realms isn’t quite ready to commit to a release date yet.

Original Story: Speaking to the Dallas Business Journal, 3D Realms President Scott Miller confirmed that the highly anticipated Duke Nukem Forever will see a release in “late 2008.”

Miller did not officially confirm which platforms the title will land on, aside from PC of course, but did note that hitting the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 makes sense, so a multi-platform release is looking likely.

We haven’t formally announced any platforms for DNF. But, of course hitting the big three makes the most sense (PC, PS3, 360).

We may miss the mark by a month or two, but I feel very confident that we’re on target this time.

Miss the mark by a month or two? I hope that’s a joke. Aside from locking down a release window for DNF, Miller confirmed speculative reports which suggested that a downloadable version of Duke Nukem 3D was coming to the Xbox Live Arcade later this year. The XBLA release will include online multiplayer support, achievements, online score boards, and a co-op mode.
