Fans Recreate Final Fantasy VII Opening Segment In Unreal Engine 3

Seeing as the inevitable Final Fantasy VII remake isn’t coming from Square Enix anytime soon, a group of devoted fans have taken it upon themselves to recreate a segment of the opening sequence that takes place in the Midgar train station, using Unreal Engine 3 technology.

Played from a first-person perspective unlike the original, the demo is designed to highlight the surrounding 3D environments, meaning it does not include a working battle system or anything of that sort. Additionally, much of the animations are unfinished. It’s quite rough, but the texture work gives a glimpse at what FFVII redone in HD might look like.
