Is Rocksteady’s Next Batman Game Going to Be Inspired by the Old Comics?

It looks like Rocksteady Studios will be working on a new Batman game. But if you’re expecting something in line with the Arkham games, you may want to think again, because Variety is reporting that the developer will release a brand new title that’s inspired by the Silver Age of comic books.

In addition to featuring what will likely be a completely different art direction, the “highly stylized” Batman game will actually be a prequel to Rocksteady’s previous endeavors. The plot is set to revolve around Batman and Joker’s first encounter, which could definitely make for some fun storytelling! Personally, I hope we get to see the villain give Robin a good clobbering!

The new Batman game isn’t scheduled to launch before 2014, but it’s fun to think about the different ways Rocksteady can make the series its own once again. Additionally, I wonder if we’ll see some other superhero cameos, because as Variety noted, the specific era Rocksteady is targeting featured crossovers with Superman as well the creation of the Justice League.
