NeoGeo X Gold Is Pretty Expensive

I’m a huge fan of retro games. There’s just nothing quite like 8-bit and 16-bit graphics for me. And the chiptunes — oh, those chiptunes! As much as I love hooking up my old consoles and enjoying some of my favorite classics, though, I still think the upcoming NeoGeo X Gold is kind of pricey. Like, ridiculously pricey.
Set to launch on December 6 (Just in time for the holidays, folks!), the NeoGeo X Gold will sport a hefty $199.99 price tag. Yikes! That’s as much as a 3DS XL, which by the way, also plays a few retro games itself.
It’s awesome that the NeoGeo X Gold doubles as both a home platform that can be hooked up to your TV and a portable system that you can take on the go with you, but 200 clams is still a bit on the expensive side. If you are interested in it, though, you’ll be happy to know that the console comes with a traditional controller and a sweet old school joystick. Additionally, it comes with 20 pre-loaded games including Fatal Fury, King of Fighters ’95, and Samurai Shodown II.
For a full list of pre-loaded titles, check out the official announcement by Tommo, Inc. In all honesty, I would like to own the NeoGeo X Gold, but it’s pretty darn expensive, so I might just skip a purchase for now. Anyone else feel the same way?
