Majora’s Mask Remake Could Still Happen

Majora's Mask

Last year, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto explained that he had ambitions of creating a remake of a classic entry in the Legend of Zelda series. At the time, the decision was split between A Link to the Past and Majora’s Mask. We haven’t gotten either, but the 3DS is set to receive an original successor to A Link to the Past. That said, Miyamoto hasn’t forgotten about Majora’s Mask.

Speaking to IGN, the beloved Mario and Zelda creator alluded to the fact that a remake of the classic Nintendo 64 title could potentially happen. Nothing’s set in stone just yet, but the possibility’s certainly there. “Well, they’re still in my memory,” said Miyamoto when asked about Majora’s Mask fans’ expectations.

So that’s not exactly a definitive answer, but it’s definitely not a “no.” I think (and hope) that we do eventually get a 3DS remake of Majora’s Mask somewhere down the road. Nintendo loves to be cryptic, though, and the company often likes to keep folks guessing (and waiting), so don’t be discouraged just yet, Zelda fans.
