Retro City Rampage

Retro City Rampage has found a nice a home on the 3DS. After creator Brian Provinciano decided to undertake the task of rebuilding the game for Nintendo’s dual screen handheld, it was hard to tell if all of that effort would actually pay off. Well, it has.

According to Provinciano (via GoNintendo), the 3DS version of the pixelated open world crime adventure has already brought in more revenue for the developer than the Xbox Live Arcade version. Makes sense considering the game is a perfect fit for handhelds and given the popularity of the 3DS.

Provinciano tweeted that Retro City Rampage had surpassed 250,000 individual downloads across all platforms. He then elaborated, saying that if you factor in PlayStation Plus downloads, that number exceeds 500,000. That’s definitely great news because Retro City Rampage is a lovely game that should be played by most.

In related news, the 3DS version also received an update last week. The patch adds several new features to the game including parking garages to store your vehicles in, waypoints to place on the map, and a jukebox to listen to your favorite tunes.
