Mathieulh has released sources to Utopia, the first custom open-source kernel replacement for PSP. Completely separate from Sony’s firmware, Utopia is aimed at giving developers access to the PSP hardware free of compatibility issues in an environment with less overhead. The kernel is not fully functional yet, but at the very least, will give interested folks a closer look at how this feat was accomplished.

Do note that work on Utopia has not been a solo effort, but majority of the code was written by SilverSpring and is under a BSD license.
